CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an expanding International Group of Companies that offers clients a wide range of Logistical & Distribution services, including Ocean & Air Freight, Road Transportation & Warehousing, we are seeking to recruit an Operations Officer to join their growing Air Freight department, based in either Nicosia or Limassol. As an Operations Officer, you will report to the Operations Manager and provide exceptional customer service to achieve the company’s plans and objectives. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including the proper implementation of the company’s policies and procedures, as well as providing general operations support. An academic background relating Business Administration is desirable as well as previous experience in a relevant role. Knowledge of freight forwarding concepts and port authority procedures and regulations are a must.

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure proper implementation of the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Respond to customers inquiries and submit quotations within 24 hours maximum.
  • Liaise with third parties to move goods by air, according to customers’ requirements.
  • Follow up on quotation until closing of deal and report the reason for the loss of any contract/job.
  • Arrange bookings for air freight shipments from A to Z.
  • Update client on regular basis on his shipments’ status.
  • Use the CRM, for quotation, client’s details, contracts, and movement, in addition to filing all job-related correspondences and docs.
  • Meeting monthly targets set by management.
  • Get management approval prior to offering any credit facilities to clients.
  • Negotiate rates and charges with clients, agents and principals to ensure approval.
  • Solve day to day problems and request management involvement where needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations and other factors that could affect the movement of freight through Air.
  • Build a good relationship with Carriers (air) in coordination with the Operations Manager.
  • Perform other related activities as requested by operations manager and General Manager.
  • Internal Contact with the Sales Team, Freight forwarding team, Accounting Team, Top management.
  • External contact with clients, as well as legal and sea-port authorities.
  • Carry out additional tasks that the job holder will be trained and coached in, when and if changes occur regarding technology, business lines and regulations.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Transportation and Logistics will be considered highly desirable.
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience in the Freight Forwarding field.
  • Ability to work within flexible working hours.
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding concepts.
  • Knowledge of all port authority procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent client service skills.
