Hotel Finance Manager

CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, the owner and operator of 2 luxury hotels in Cyprus, we are seeking to recruit a Hotel Finance Manager to join their growing team. Working closely with the hotel General Managers, the successful applicant will lead the finance function of both hotels, managing a team of 6 accounting professionals. You will split your time between the two hotels, based in Paphos & Ayia Napa as well as the central offices based in Nicosia. An academic background relating to Accounting, Finance and/or Economics is highly desirable and full members of a recognised accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CPA) are encouraged to apply. You will need to possess approximately 5+ years of proven experience in a relevant role, with strong knowledge of IFRS principles. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Greek & English are essential. Previous experience in a finance role within the Hospitality industry will be considered an advantage.

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee payroll, receivables, payables of the 2 hotels, as well as payment preparations.
  • Manage cash flow of each hotel.
  • Oversee the capital expenditure.
  • Oversee of reconciliation process ensuring relevant statutory requirements (VAT, Tax, Financial Statements) are satisfied.
  • Manage and liaise with auditors for the statutory audit, VAT, and Tax advisors accordingly.
  • Manage bank accounts ensuring correct allocation of receipts, expenses, collections etc. in accordance with the management agreement for each of the hotels.
  • Checking, agree and provide instructions for the payment of the management company fees.
  • Constantly improve accounting/treasury process/controls in accordance with IRFS principles, corporate governance policies and the Shareholders’ internal policies.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place to safeguard company processes and assets.
  • Develop and lead of a team of accountants including appraisal and training.
  • Liaise with any external service providers such as external auditors, tax/vat advisors as well as with banks and the key stakeholders.
  • Ensure financial risks are properly understood and managed.
  • Any other ad hoc duties, as and when required.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics or related field.
  • Professional qualification, such as ACCA/ACA/CPA is highly desirable.
  • 5+ years post qualification experience.
  • Previous experience in a managerial position in the finance or hospitality industry will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge on IFRS principles.
  • Solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter and able to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to execute and follow through completion and documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use Excel exceptionally to achieve objectives.
  • Able to prioritise, work to deadlines and oversee a multitude of tasks.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Highly dedicated, flexible and committed to getting the job done.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Greek language.
