CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a highly respected, International Insurance company, we are seeking to recruit an Internal Accountant to join their growing team based in Nicosia. The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for assisting with the internal accounting and bookkeeping of the company, predominantly focusing on assignments in Insurance, Financial Services and/or Real Estate. The successful applicant will ideally hold a relevant academic background relating to Accounting, Finance, Statistics or Economics and ideally be working towards either the ACCA or ACA qualification. You will possess approximately 2-4 years of relevant accounting and bookkeeping experience and must be highly proficient in English, both verbal and written.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Work effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility and knowledge, providing support, maintaining communication and update other senior team members on progress.
  • Work on accounting assignments in either Insurance (Life insurance, Life and Non-Life reinsurance), Financial Services and/or Real Estate covering traditional accounting activities like bookkeeping, forecasting and financial reporting (e.g.IFRS9, IFRS 17).
  • Provide accurate, timely and efficient data.
  • Assisting with the external audit as well as broader topics like, new legislations, big data/analytics and reporting to the Regulator and the Central Bank.
  • Assisting with ad hoc reporting requirements, which may arise from time to time.
  • Ensuring that all relevant internal and external deadlines are met.
  • Assisting with the annual audit for the financial statements.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Economics or a relevant field is ideal.
  • Candidates working towards the ACCA/ACA qualification are encouraged to apply.  
  • 2- 4 years of relevant professional experience in accounting and bookkeeping is essential.
  • Good understanding of the audit procedure during External and Internal audits.
  • Good understanding of the Cyprus Tax regime (Income Tax, VAT, Tranfer Pricing,Payroll and etc).
  • IFRS 17 knowledge will be considered an asset.
  • Advanced business writing and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to lead small accounting teams.
  • Strong team player with a passion for excellence and commitment to delivering work on time and with a flexible working style enjoying working with multi-national teams.
  • A high degree of self–direction and the business acumen to work within a rapidly changing environment.
  • Advanced MS office skills specifically Excel.
  • A consulting mind-set, comfortable navigating through periods of ambiguity and change, and can effectively manage competing priorities.
  • Any additional foreign language especially German will be consider an advantage.
