CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a highly diversified Group of Companies with international activities in the Marine, Offshore and Energy industries, we are seeking to recruit a Vessel Accountant to join their growing team based in Limassol. As a Vessel Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate cost control, timely financial reporting, and effective financial support for assigned vessels. Our client is seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, who possess approximately 5+ years of accounting experience gained working in the Ship Management and/or Maritime sectors. Strong knowledge of vessel OPEX and maritime cost structures is essential, and knowledge of Danaos Software, or any other shipping software will be considered an advantage. An attractive remuneration and benefits package is on offer based on skills and experience, which includes a 13th salary, and provident fund. Working hours are from 08:00 – 17:00 from Monday to Friday with some flexibility.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for assigned vessels, monitor vessel operating costs against approved budgets, track accruals, prepayments, and any outstanding liabilities.
  • Manage vessel cash flow, including forecasting, monitoring, and ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet financial obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and maritime regulations.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and other teams across the organization to prepare the annual vessel budgets and cashflow forecasts, analyze deviations and report cost overruns to management.
  • Verify and process vessel related invoices
  • Ensure timely payments to suppliers, agents, and service providers.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to vessel accounts.
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Liaise with technical and operations departments.

 

Key Skills/Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Approximately 5+ years of accounting experience gained working in the Ship Management/Maritime industry.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel OPEX, and maritime cost structures.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Danaos Software or any other Shipping software will be considered an advantage.
