CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an expanding Group of Companies operating in the Shipping Industry, we are seeking to recruit a Vessel Accountant to join their growing team based in Limassol. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all crew-related financial transactions, as well as reconciling payroll and all onboard accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring discrepancies are resolved promptly. Our client is seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, who possess approximately 3+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with prior experience working in the Shipping sector considered an advanced. Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Dynamics is essential, and an understanding of VAT and tax regulations is a must. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain accurate records of all crew-related financial transactions.
  • Reconcile, on a monthly basis, payroll and all onboard accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Reconcile Accounts Receivable accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies, reconciling charterers and port agents to voyage management system’s records and address discrepancies timely.
  • Enter and update financial data in the ERP system accurately.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving ERP-related issues.
  • Support the accounting team in optimizing ERP functionality.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Previous experience working in the Shipping sector is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Understanding of VAT and tax regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
