CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a financial consultancy firm specializing in providing tailored financial turnkey solutions to e-money clients, regulated money remittance businesses, and alternative investment funds across various EU jurisdictions, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Legal Officer to join their growing team based in Limassol. As a Senior Legal Officer, you will primarily be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements to protect the interests of the Company and its Group entities. Our client is seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in Law, who possess approximately 5+ years of relevant professional experience. You will need to have proven experience in contract law, corporate law and regulatory compliance within the financial services sector, and be fluent in both verbal and written Greek and English. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts and agreements to protect the interests of the Company and its Group entities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of all contracts and agreements.
  • Identify potential legal risks and help to develop strategies to mitigate them, focusing on regulatory compliance in the financial services industry.
  • Collaborate with the UK compliance and risk teams to address legal risks specific to the UK regulated entities.
  • Provide legal support for financial transactions, including due diligence reviews, transaction structuring, and contract negotiations.
  • Cooperate and coordinate with the compliance departments of Cyprus and the UK to ensure compliance with transactional documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret and apply regulatory requirements, data protection law (e.g., GDPR) and consumer protection regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the legal department to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law.
  • Approximately 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong legal background with proven experience in contract law, corporate law and regulatory compliance within the financial industry.
  • Fintech/financial industry experience will be considered as a strong advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience of working in a collaborative environment to align legal and business objectives and ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Willingness and flexibility to handle all other legal-related tasks and responsibilities as directed by senior management.
  • Ability to identify legal risks, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other departments within the Group of entities or externally with our clients and business partners.
  • Proficiency in English and Greek (both written and oral).
