CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an established company operating in the Engineering & Construction sector, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their growing team based in Limassol. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective credit control, and strong internal processes within a project-based environment. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in a relevant field of study, and holders of any relevant accounting certification are encouraged to apply. You will need to possess proven experience in a relevant position, with any experience working in a construction or contracting environment considered an advantage. You will need to be fluent in Greek and English, be a confident user of MS Office applications, and hold prior experience working with ERP systems such as SAP. An attractive remuneration and benefits package is on offer, based on skills and experience, including a 13th salary.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the full accounting cycle using SAP.
  • Supervise and review the work of the accounting team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of all accounting entries.
  • Handle accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Monitor and control the allocation of revenues and expenses across projects.
  • Prepare and review Work in Progress (WIP) reports.
  • Monitor and manage customer accounts and outstanding balances.
  • Prepare and analyze debtor ageing reports.
  • Communicate with clients to follow up on overdue payments.
  • Oversee the issuance of invoices and receipts.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and IFRS standards.
  • Assist in developing, documenting, and improving accounting processes and controls.
  • Act as a key liaison between the Head of Finance and the accounting team.
  • Provide regular updates on receivables, financial risks, and overall financial performance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Technical, Quantity Surveying (QS), and Procurement.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • LCCI Higher or equivalent qualification.
  • Prior experience in a relevant accounting position is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.
  • Previous experience in a construction or contracting environment is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP system such as SAP.
  • Proven experience in credit control and collections.
  • Excellent command of Greek and English.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
