CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an established Maritime Group, with a fleet of over 100 vessels, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their growing team based in Limassol. As a Senior Accountant, you will handle a range of accounting duties to ensure the smooth running of our client’s finance department. You should be educated to degree level in a relevant field, and holders of, or those working towards a professional accounting qualification are encouraged to apply. Our client is seeking applicants who possess proven experience in a similar position, with any prior experience working in the Shipping sector considered an advantage, but not essential. You will need to be a proficient user of accounting-related software, with the ability to support change and process improvement. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Following appropriate accounting policies.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory and corporate requirements.
  • Cooperating with the external auditors during the interim review and year-end audit.
  • Checking of Draft and Final Accounts prepared by external auditors.
  • Monitoring, coordinating, and checking bank matters including opening of bank accounts, renewing loans, and arranging redemptions and interest payments, bank balances, resolving discrepancies and bank reconciliation statements.
  • Coordinating and checking the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounts and the preparation of the audited financial statements.
  • Ensuring effective implementation and utilisation of accounting software.
  • Maintaining chart of Accounts and supervising year end procedure.
  • Keeping updated summaries of the Quarterly Results explaining variances in comparison to budget.
  • Checking VAT reports and returns.
  • Calculating and processing payment of income tax.
  • Monitoring aging analysis and ensuring that the payments are effected on time.
  • Checking and reconciling accounts.
  • Preparing, checking and issuing invoices.
  • Checking receivables and following-up collection.
  • Administrating and supervising the invoice inputting process.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Holders of, or those working towards a relevant accounting qualification are encouraged to apply.
  • Proven experience in a relevant accounting position is essential.
  • Any prior experience working in the Shipping Sector will be considered a plus, but not essential.
  • Experience using accounting software and databases.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Greek and English.
