CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an international Group of Companies with diverse business interests, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their growing team based in Nicosia. The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for handling the accounting and bookkeeping for a number of local and international companies operating within the Group. You will need to possess approximately 5 years of relevant professional experience, ideally working within an international environment and/or providing accounting and bookkeeping services to a portfolio of international clients and should be a full member of a recognised accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CPA). Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek & English are a must.

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for accounting for a group of local and international companies with mostly holding and investment activities.
  • Supporting audit process, preparing relevant documentation, liaising with external auditors as part of the preparation and completion of annual statutory audit.
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns to Cyprus authorities.
  • Monitoring and analyzing tax developments and informing management about important updates.
  • Liaising with local authorities if needed.
  • Producing periodical management accounts.
  • Supporting management with the preparation of various financial reports.
  • Coordinating with other team members regarding accounting and audit matters.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Management.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Approximately 5 years of proven experience in a relevant role, ideally working in an international environment and/or providing accounting services to international clients.
  • Full members of the ACA, ACCA and/or CPA are encouraged to apply.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of IFRSs and their practical application is preferable.
  • Good knowledge/understanding of the Cyprus tax legislation and previous experience with tax and VAT matters will be considered an advantage.
  • Fluency in Greek & English.  
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivated.
  • Professional discipline and strong analytical skills.
  • Team oriented.
  • Computer literate.
