CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an expanding Group of Companies operating in the Shipping Industry, we are seeking to recruit a Payment & Treasury Accountant to join their growing team based in Limassol. Reporting to the Accounting Team Leader, the successful applicant will primarily be responsible for maintaining accurate vendor master data, including banking details, as well as taking all necessary actions to ensure bank account openings in a timely manner and integration in the system. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in Business Administration, Accounting, or any other related field, who possess approximately 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or related accounting roles. Proficiency in accounting system D365 will be considered an advantage, and knowledge on Excel is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English are a must. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Maintaining accurate and up to date vendor master data (incl. bank details).
  • Taking all necessary actions to ensure bank account openings in a timely manner and integration in the system. The opening of a new bank account shall also include onboarding of such information on the FX trading platform and/or deposit platform. 
  • Processing vendor payments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Addressing payment issues (incl. returned payments or discrepancies with vendors).
  • Resolving disputes related to payment delays, short payments, or invoice mismatches, in liaison with the Accounts Payable – Invoicing team. 
  • Generating daily bank balances reports, ensuring completeness and timely submission to all relevant parties.
  • Processing bank statements that are not automatically imported on the system on a regular basis.
  • Reconciling company bank statements with accounting records. Identifying and resolving unmatched transactions.
  • Preparing cash flow exports on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Coordinating and executing hedge proposals (incl. bunkers, loan interest, FX spot/forward contracts), always via the FX trading platform.
  • Executing and coordinating purchases of EUAs in a timely manner.
  • Providing support during external audits.
  • Cooperating effectively with other departments both in Cyprus and abroad.
  • Undertaking any other relevant tasks as assigned by management.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or any other related field. 
  • 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or related accounting roles.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Greek, both verbal and in writing. 
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency in accounting system D365 will be considered an advantage. 
  • Communication and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
