CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a multi-disciplinary Law Firm which provides legal, tax, corporate and accounting services to a broad range of clients, we are seeking to recruit a Head of Accounting to join their growing team based in Limassol. Leading a Team of less experienced accounting professionals, the successful applicant will oversee the accounting function on behalf of our client, including both internal and external accounting on behalf of clients. You will ideally be educated to degree level in a relevant field, and will need to possess 5+ years of proven experience in a relevant role. The ability to lead, manage and mentor less experienced team members is essential, and fluency in both verbal and written Greek and English is a must. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Overseeing and assigning tasks to the members of the accounting department of the Company.
  • Ensuring the work of the accounting department is organised and in good order.
  • Review and approval of quotes for accounting services and audit.
  • Reviewing the work of members of the accounting department and ensuring that all tasks are completed in accordance with professional standards and in a timely manner.
  • Reviewing the bookkeeping and entries done by team members to ensure that files are properly prepared for audit.
  • Review and approval of VAT, VIES returns.
  • Review and approval of invoices.
  • Preparation and review of budget and forecasting where required.
  • Review and approval of payroll of clientele.
  • Assistance with consultations in the area of accounting practice, tax planning and similar.
  • Review and approval of financial statements and management accounts.
  • Preparation of financial statements and management accounts where required.
  • Preparation of the company files for audit.
  • Assistance with queries of clients and team members for accounting and tax compliance matters.
  • Keeping up to date and remaining well informed with latest developments in the field of taxation and accounting practices.
  • Liaising with the auditors for the audit of companies, the government authorities and any agent for any tasks.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar is desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant accounting position is a must.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel.
  • Knowledge of accounting software such as E-Soft, Caseware or similar.
  • Fluency in both verbal and written Greek and English.
  • Any knowledge of the Russian language will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, whilst maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
