As the Head of Accounting, you will manage the Accounting Team, reviewing their work to ensure it meets professional standards and legal requirements. Our client is seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other related fields, who are ideally full members of a recognised accounting body (ACCA,ACA). You will need to hold extensive professional experience in a relevant role, and be fluent in both verbal and written Greek and English. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the team of the staff of the Accounting Department.
  • Reviewing the work of his/her team members and ensuring that work is prepared in accordance with professional standards and in compliance with the Law and Regulations.
  • Ensure that posting and processing of journal entries of all business transactions of clients in the accounting software.
  • Responsible for the VAT, VIES Returns.
  • Responsible for the tax returns ( e.g. IR1,IR4, IR7,IR603,IR614.etc.).
  • Ensure that accounts receivable and accounts payable are reconciled quarterly and on year-end.
  • Responsible for the clients’ payroll.
  • Responsible for direct tax consulting.
  • Responsible to prepare the audit file for the auditors to perform the audit of the client and be the main contact with the auditors.
  • Liaise with clients in relation to accounting issues and tax obligations.
  • Provide on the job training and guidance to the team members.
  • Keep up to date with all developments in the field of taxation and share the knowledge with the staff.
  • Reporting to the Partner for the progress of his/her team.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • An academic background relating to Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
  • Ideally a member of a professional Accounting body (ACA/ACCA).
  • Extensive experience in a relevant position is essential.
  • Knowledge of VAT and Tax Law is essential for this role.
  • Very Good knowledge and practical application of IAS and IFRS.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
  • Fluency in Greek and English.
  • Ability to be a team leader
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Capable of working on own initiative.
  • Pleasant personality.
  • Eager to constantly learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
