CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a Hospitality Group which owns and operates a number of luxury resorts in both Cyprus and Greece, we are seeking to recruit a Group Chief Engineer to join their growing team based in Paphos. As the Group Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance and efficient operation of the physical structure and mechanical systems of Group properties. This includes managing the engineering team, overseeing repairs, and ensuring that all equipment and facilities are in good working order, in compliance with safety regulations. Our client is seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, who possess approximately 5+ years of proven experience in a relevant role, including leading and mentoring less experienced engineers. Based predominantly in Paphos, you will be willing and able to travel abroad to oversee other properties within the Group. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Align with the hotels mission and standards when performing maintenance activities.
  • Maximize the team’s potential by balancing operations with guest, employee, and ownership satisfaction.
  • Represent the engineering department in daily Head of Department (HOD) meetings.
  • Oversee, schedule, assign, and supervise the engineering team’s tasks and projects.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of maintenance tasks, work orders, and special projects.
  • Respond swiftly to guest maintenance needs, ensuring professional, efficient, and courteous service.
  • Maintain the physical appearance and operational efficiency of the hotels, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Oversee the installation and upkeep of key equipment, such as HVAC, DG sets, water treatment, and fire safety systems.
  • Maintain accurate records for all hotel plant and equipment, including repair and service logs.
  • Prepare reports as required for the Housekeeping Manager and General Manager.
  • Ensure adequate stock of materials, tools, and equipment, maintaining a clean and safe storage environment.
  • Take responsibility for the cleanliness and safety of plant and mechanical rooms.
  • Ensure the correct usage and regular maintenance of all equipment.
  • Conduct daily and weekly inspections of the property.
  • Ensure the property, grounds, physical plant, and work areas meet hotel standards and comply with safety codes.
  • Train staff on maintenance procedures, preventive maintenance, inventory management, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain, monitor, and test the hotel’s emergency and security systems, including fire alarms & CCTV.
  • Communicate regularly with GM, Owners, and department heads about maintenance updates and inspection reports.
  • Lead energy conservation initiatives to reduce property expenses.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers for annual maintenance contracts (AMC) and resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Uphold quality service, achieve financial goals, and manage both long-term and day-to-day operations effectively.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or equivalent in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience is essential.
  • Approximately 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a hotel’s engineering department.
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical and mechanical problems.
  • Experience with managing budgets and cost control.
