The successful candidate will act as a vital link between internal teams, banks, and card networks, contributing to our client’s operational efficiency and growth ambitions. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and seamless transaction processing across the card ecosystem. Our client is seeking applicants who hold a relevant professional qualification such as the ACCA, who possess at least 4 years proven experience in treasury operations preferably within the card issuing and/or acquiring sector. Strong knowledge of card scheme rules, settlement cycles, and operational processes is essential and proficiency in financial reconciliation and treasury management systems is a must. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor and reconcile daily cardholder activities, including funding, settlements, chargebacks, and refunds.
  • Manage relationships with payment processors and card schemes (e.g. Mastercard, Diners/Discover, China Union Pay, etc.), ensuring full compliance with settlement requirements.
  • Submit required reports to card schemes and regulatory authorities in a timely manner.
  • Oversee daily merchant settlements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payouts.
  • Monitor and reconciliation of acquiring account balances.
  • Reconcile incoming transactions from card schemes with merchant payouts, addressing discrepancies effectively.
  • Collaborate with risk and compliance teams to resolve chargebacks, disputes, and fraud-related financial issues.
  • Manage multi-currency receipts from card schemes and oversee accurate conversions into settlement currencies such as EUR.
  • Work with banks and FX providers to secure competitive exchange rates for settlements.
  • Implement and maintain robust reconciliation processes for multi-currency transactions.
  • Track and reconcile customer funds by currency, identifying and addressing any surplus or deficit.
  • Monitor and reconcile transaction activities across the issuing and acquiring networks, including identifying chargebacks, fees, and costs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate fulfilment of all regulatory and card scheme financial obligations.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Regularly review reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare monthly management reporting packs for business and product team reviews, providing insightful commentary.
  • Handle internal and external finance queries related to card issuing and acquiring program management.
  • Assist the finance team in ensuring the timely completion of statutory accounts and year-end audits.
  • Responsible for the issuing and acquiring elements of the Monthly Regulatory.
  • Reporting (Central Bank of Cyprus Appendix A, Statistical Reporting).

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Professional qualifications such as ACCA, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years proven experience in treasury operations within the card issuing and/or acquiring sector.
  • Strong knowledge of card scheme rules, settlement cycles, and operational processes.
  • Proficiency in financial reconciliation and treasury management systems.
  • Experience managing foreign exchange transactions and mitigating FX risks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with payment technology platforms and APIs.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing card operations (e.g., PSD2 and Central Bank of Cyprus reporting requirements).
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing Electronic Money Issuance.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
