CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a long-established and highly respected company operating in the Construction & Real Estate sectors, we are seeking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their growing team based in Nicosia. As an Assistant Accountant, you will handle a range of accounting and bookkeeping duties, including the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software, as well as recording daily transactions and reconciling bank, and credit card statements. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another relevant field, who possess proven experience as a bookkeeper, accounting assistant, or a similar role. Proficiency with accounting software such as SAP, QuickBooks, Xero or similar is essential, along with a sound understanding of basic accounting principles and financial regulations. An attractive remuneration package is on offer, which includes a 13th salary and Friday afternoon’s off. Working hours are from Monday - Thursday 08:30 - 13:00 & 14:00 - 17:30 and Friday from 08:30 - 14:00.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Xero).
  • Record daily transactions, reconcile bank, and credit card statements.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Assist with payroll processing and basic tax preparation.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and tax regulations.
  • Assist during internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, and other departments.

 

Key Skills/Experience:

 

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another relevant field is desirable.
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, accounting assistant, or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial regulations.
