CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a long-established engineering company that provides design and manufacturing solutions to the dairy and food industries, we are seeking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their growing team based in Nicosia. As an Assistant Accountant, you will provide administrative and finance support to the Accounting Department, performing tasks including data entry, filing, and managing communications with clients and vendors. As part of your role, you will also record daily financial transactions, issue invoices and receipts, assist with bank deposits, and support the annual audit process. An academic background in relevant field is desirable, and you should possess 1+ year of proven experience in a relevant role. Familiarity with basic accounting principles is essential, with any experience working with accounting software considered a plus. A highly attractive remuneration and benefits package is on offer based on skills and experience, which includes a 13th salary, and provident fund. Working hours are from 07:00 - 15:45 from Monday to Thursday, and from 07:00 - 13:15 each Friday.

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Provide administrative and financial support to the Accounting Department.
  • Manage routine office tasks, including filing, data entry, phone coverage, and email processing, to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and suppliers via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Process financial transactions, issue invoices and receipts, and update accounting ledgers in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of annual audits.
  • Accurately record daily financial transactions and ensure proper posting into the system.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, as well as accounts receivable and payable, to maintain up-to-date records.
  • Monitor and verify the accuracy and completeness of ledgers, supporting reliable financial reporting.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Diploma in Accounting or a related field is desirable.
  • 1+ year of experience in a relevant position.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English and Greek.
  • Knowledge of Sage software will be considered an advantage, but not essential.
  • Strong typing and data entry skills.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • Professional manners and strong ethical standards.
  • Ability to multitask while remaining motivated and positive.
  • Organized, team-oriented, and eager for continuous learning.
  • Strong commitment to working efficiently and accurately.
