CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, a leading Global Shipping Agency, we are seeking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their growing team based in Limassol. The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of the company, carrying out checks, recording income and expenses related to shipping operations, and preparing monthly bank reconciliations. Our client is seeking applicants who are ideally educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or other closely related fields, and holders of the LCCI Higher accounting certification are encouraged to apply. You will need to possess 3+ years of experience in shipping, logistics and/or accounting, and excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English are essential. Our client offers an attractive remuneration package based on skills and experience, which includes 14th salary, Provident Fund and working hours from 08:00 – 16:30pm from Monday to Friday.

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all necessary checks and record income and expenses from operations.
  • Issue invoices promptly after job closure and to send the same to customers and principals.
  • Understand the shipping and logistics business and record information on operational software.
  • Carry out financial due diligence checks to customers as may be required.
  • Reconcile daily sales to cash receipts and ensure that they are banked on a timely basis.
  • Strictly follow and implement the Company’s Compliance policies concerning anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and anti-corruption and to report any suspicious transactions.
  • Follow up on accounts payable and handle accounts receivable.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure financial information and documents are correctly processed on a daily basis.

 

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Holders of the LCCI Higher certification are encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in shipping, logistics and/or accounting is desirable.
  • Good knowledge of computers and IT software.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Greek.
  • Adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Team player (communication and interpersonal skills).
  • Good concentration skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to handle routine functions.
