As an Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and managing all accounting processes, including financial reporting, audits, and tax compliance. Our client is seeking applicants who are educated to degree level in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another closely related field, and full members of a recognised accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CPA) are encouraged to apply. You will need to possess 5+ years of proven experience in a relevant accounting and finance role, including experience at a managerial level. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Ensure that financial records comply with regulatory requirements, accounting principles, and company policies.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Manage revenue recognition processes specific to the betting industry, including wagers, winnings, and commissions.
  • Perform reconciliations of betting accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
  • Collaborate with risk and product teams to reconcile data from betting platforms with accounting systems.
  • Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts, providing financial insights and variance analysis.
  • Monitor and track performance against budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
  • Ensure full compliance with industry regulations and tax laws applicable to the betting and gaming sector.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual financial audits, ensuring accurate and timely audit preparation.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, ensuring the company meets its financial reporting obligations.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of accountants and finance professionals, providing leadership and support in day-to-day operations.
  • Manage payroll processing and ensure the timely disbursement of employee wages.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance financial reporting efficiency.
  • Manage and oversee the company’s tax compliance processes, including VAT/GST, gaming taxes, and corporate tax filings.
  • Ensure timely submission of regulatory reports specific to the betting industry, including gambling commission returns.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Prior experience in the betting, gaming, or sports wagering industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations in the gaming and betting industry.
  • Proficient in accounting software and systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle, SAP).
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to tackling challenges.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
