CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an expanding Group of Companies operating in the Shipping Industry, we are seeking to recruit an Accounting Team Leader to join their growing team based in Limassol. Leading a team of up to 10 people, the successful applicant will possess hands on managerial skills and experience, and must be a full member of a recognised accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CPA), with at least 5+ years of post-qualification experience in a similar role. You will be responsible for the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of financial transaction records across the Group, which consists of Joint Ventures, Management Companies and Investment Companies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential; with knowledge of the Greek language considered an advantage. Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of financial transaction records in the company’s administration, which consists of joint ventures, management, and investment companies.
  • Organize the accounting team, keeping in touch with other teams and departments of the company, to ensure you proactively meet new requirements following organizational developments (i.e., fleet expansion, new joint ventures, or regulatory requirements).
  • Add value to the company’s chain by actively contributing to the intersection of finance, digital, innovation and accounting, ensuring that company ambitions are translated into clear improvement plan.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments from suppliers, collecting receivables, voyage accounting, among more.
  • Assist in the shaping of the accounting team into an accounting competence centre to function as an accounting process knowledge centre of the company where the business, suppliers, and customers can refer to any questions and/or requests.
  • Train, supervise, and manage the accounting team in a pragmatic manner, with the goal of elevating the team to a higher-level creating value for the company’s stakeholders with a strong commitment to results, managing expectations, and meeting deadlines.
  • Any other relevant duty which may arise in the context of the specific role, as per Management’s instructions.

Key Skills/Experience: 

  • An academic background in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another closely related field.
  • Full member of a professional accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CPA).
  • 5+ years of post-qualification experience in a role with similar responsibilities is essential.
  • Experience with process management and business transformations.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, as well as accounting software.
  • Very good knowledge of English; any knowledge of Greek will be considered an advantage.
  • Dedication to meeting expectations and deadlines.
  • Ability to motivate team members to achieve their potential.
  • Developing people’s capacity to achieve individual and team objectives.
  • Ability to communicate with impact with a diverse group of people across different teams.
  • Flexible to adapt to business demands and manage expectations.
